Risperidone is an atypical anti-psychotic drug used in the short term to treat schizophrenia and other psychoses in patients who are unresponsive to conventional anti-psychotics which include amisulpride, olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine, clozapine, and zotepine. Atypical antipsychotic drugs control both the positive symptoms (e.g. delusions) and the negative symptoms (e.g. apathy) of the disease. |
